Now in its seventh year, Frieze Los Angeles returns to remind the art world of the city’s cultural prowess. “People were skeptical about whether a fair like this could work in L.A.,” the fair’s owner, Ari Emanuel, told The New York Times in 2024. “But we knew the incredible creativity and community was already there. It just needed the right spotlight.” Situated at the Santa Monica Airport since 2023, the fair showcases over 100 galleries. Among the exhibitors are Fort Gansevoort, Gagosian, and Sprüth Magers. The Focus collection, curated by Essence Harden for the third year, is made up of solo presentations by galleries formed during or after 2014. —Maggie Turner
