Keith Haring is indelibly associated with the flat, energetic, figural outlines that seemed to cover every surface of 1980s New York. But he was a sculptor too, though that facet of his practice has been largely overlooked. In fact, Haring made hundreds of three-dimensional objects: found items he painted in the street, monumental wood and metal sculptures, and somewhat magnificently a 1963 Buick Special. At Crystal Bridges, the first exhibition devoted entirely to this side of Haring’s practice brings together sculpture, totems, masks, skateboards, clothing, boomboxes, paintings, and, of course, the car. —Elena Clavarino
