Exposed: The Ashley Madison Hack

“Life is short. Have an affair.” A dating service designed for individuals looking to cheat on their partners, Ashley Madison built a business on discretion. Yet its promises of privacy proved hollow when, in 2015, an anonymous group known as the Impact Team hacked into their servers and stole hundreds of gigabytes of users’ personal data. The group eventually published the information on the dark web, exposing the identities of 30 million two-timers and creating an international scandal. Featuring interviews with former Ashley Madison users and tech experts who corresponded directly with the hackers, a new podcast created by Sophie Elmhist and hosted by actress Sophie Nélisse (Yellowjackets) sheds fresh light on the sensational downfall of the company and what it meant for the Internet age. —Paulina Prosnitz
