“I feel 100 percent Israeli and 100 percent Palestinian,” the multimedia artist Dor Guez said in 2015, “100 percent Christian and 100 percent Jewish. It depends on the context.” Guez was born in Baka, Jerusalem, to a Christian Palestinian mother and a Jewish father whose family immigrated from North Africa. Nationality, citizenship, religion; minority versus majority—these are the subjects that Guez addresses in his art, sometimes spurring intense public debate. In his first South American solo show, Guez looks to his family history, reflecting on the violence in his homeland through decades and generations. —Elena Clavarino
