Desert Island Discs: Kate Moss

Kate Moss at England’s Glastonbury Festival in 2007.

Kate Moss isn’t on social media and she rarely gives interviews. (Surely the model, who is now 48, has endured enough tabloid stories during her 33-year career.) So when Lauren Laverne, the host of BBC’s Desert Island Discs podcast, had Moss on the show for a half-hour conversation, people were eager to listen. Moss explained that she doesn’t take selfies and that she often cried as a teenage model when ordered to take her top off in front of strange men. She plainly states that, despite her reputation, she’s never tried heroin, was never anorexic, and has traded champagne flutes at London clubs for nights meditating in her country home in Cotswolds, England. You’ll also find out the songs she’d choose to take to a desert island (hence the name of the show). The most unexpected pick is Kanye’s Sunday Service rendition of Back to Life. —Jensen Davis
