In Renae Simone Jarrett’s new play, a young woman named Daphne moves in with her girlfriend, Winona … a bit too soon. The result? A mythological distortion of reality. Siloed in a massive house in the middle of the woods, Daphne grows lonely while Winona grows controlling. After Daphne cuts her finger, her life begins to merge with the classical story of Daphne, a love-averse river nymph whose father transforms her into a tree as a way to protect her from the lascivious and controlling Apollo.
