We all know Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter, but not all may know that the 36-year-old British actor won a Tony Award last year for his role in the Stephen Sondheim musical Merrily We Roll Along. Radcliffe returned to Broadway this winter to star in Every Brilliant Thing, an interactive one-man show written by Duncan Macmillan with Jonny Donahoe. Its premise? A man goes through a list, which he began for his deeply depressed mother, of everything that makes life worth living—the color yellow, waking up next to someone you love, Spaghetti Bolognese, the way Ray Charles sings the word “you.” Says Radcliffe, “There’s something about the nature of this play, and the connection that is being constantly made with the audience.” At the 92nd Street Y, the actor discusses his role with the Happy Sad Confused podcast host Josh Horowitz. —Jeanne Malle
