Anatomy of a Suicide

Feb 18 – Mar 15, 2020
336 West 20th Street, New York, NY 10011, United States

Three generations of women, from the 1970s into the near future, pull at the taut yet tender ties that bind mothers and daughters. Each woman occupies her own area of the stage—as a mother cooks to the audience’s right, for instance, her drug-addled daughter, in a separate but simultaneous scene, appears to the left. This temporal framing allows the play to show how pain is passed down through time and space. An unflinching portrait of womanhood, maternity, and mental illness. —C.J.F.
