Alberto Giacometti & Salvador Dalí

1 Dali Blvd, St. Petersburg, FL 33701, United States

Alberto Giacometti and Salvador Dalí were born within three years of each other—Giacometti in Switzerland in 1901 and Dalí in Spain in 1904. Both were Surrealists, artists open to the darting, wandering ways of the subconscious. But Giacometti was primarily a sculptor, while Dalí was primarily a painter. The exhibition “Alberto Giacometti & Salvador Dalí” looks at their development in parallel, analyzing themes and visions that emerged in response to the Second World War and its aftermath. A rich collection of work is drawn from the Fondation Giacometti and displayed alongside works by Dalí from the Dalí Museum’s collection. —Laura Jacobs
