Amid the buzz of last year’s men’s World Cup came the logical extension of Apple’s Ted Lasso success: a soccer podcast. Hosted by the Lasso actor and co-creator Brendan Hunt alongside the NBC Sports host Rebecca Lowe, After the Whistle’s first season successfully capitalized on the tournament’s fanfare, releasing multiple episodes per week complementary to the competition. With the women’s World Cup around the corner, Apple Podcasts has announced the show’s return. Emphasizing the prolonged rivalry between English and American football, as yet unsettled, the series is both enjoyable and instructive. Although the U.S. and U.K. start in different groups this time around, we’ll have to hope—for entertainment’s sake—they meet down the line. —Jack Sullivan
