Two Man Giant Squid’s self-titled album came out on March 7. Gaining traction quickly in the post-punk scene, their music encompasses a wide range of genres. A blend of punchy shouting and spacey echoey vocals pair up nicely with disco-punk instrumentation resulting in a sound evocative of The Brian Jonestown Massacre and MGMT. The lyrics are fun and catchy, and so are the song titles: “I Was a DJ in 2015,” “Don’t Go To Snareworld.” Hard rock guitar riffs and epic solos are also present, and the band’s ability to change the feel of a song from slow and heavy to fast and upbeat in a split second is demonstrated throughout.
