“Life isn’t fair, it’s just fairer than death, that’s all,” goes one of many punch-packing lines in Rob Reiner’s 1987 fantasy comedy, The Princess Bride. While the line can be read as a reminder to keep politics in perspective, the movie is really much more about keeping up hope no matter how dire the situation is. “Death can’t stop true love,” says Westley—an even better reminder to maintain optimism (especially regarding the upcoming U.S. election). An exclusive Princess Bride table read reunites the original cast, from Robin Wright to Wallace Shawn and Billy Crystal, with donations benefiting the Wisconsin Democratic Party. —J.V.
The table read goes live at 6 P.M. C.T., and will be followed by a Q&A moderated by Patton Oswalt.
