The Gray House

Daisy Head, Mary-Louise Parker, and Amethyst Davis star in The Gray House.

Kevin Costner and Morgan Freeman have teamed up to tell the true story of an all-female network of Union spies during the American Civil War. Operating from within Confederate-held Richmond are four women: a wealthy socialite and widow (Mary Louise Parker), her unmarried daughter (Daisy Head), a formerly enslaved woman with a photographic memory (Amethyst Davis), and a conscience-bound courtesan (Hannah James). There are battle scenes, cloak-and-dagger missions, and cameos from figures such as Abraham Lincoln (Don Mullen) and John Wilkes Booth (Charles Craddock). Eight episodes, anywhere from 53 to 81 minutes long, offer up an indulgent, epic drama. —Paulina Prosnitz
