For the opening of a new wing in the museum, Lauren Haynes, Alejo Benedetti, and Allison Glenn—curators of contemporary art at Crystal Bridges—traveled across the U.S., visiting artists’ studios to find varied perspectives on the country’s most compelling issues. Searching among artists of all backgrounds and all ages, the trio chose 61. One hundred works in many media are now on display, divided into four themes that speak to America circa 2020: world-building, sense of place, mapping, and temporality. —E.C.
