When you’re young, you watch the Indiana Jones films, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, and Jurassic Park. A few years go by, and you move on to Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, and Catch Me If You Can. And finally, all grown up, you’re able to fully appreciate Schindler’s List, Amistad, and Saving Private Ryan. Steven Spielberg has directed some of the greatest, most innovative movies of our era, and his filmography has something for everyone: sci-fi, adventure, drama, history. It’s a veritable education in cinema. Spielberg has also worked with many of the finest actors of the last few decades, and has long collaborated with John Williams, perhaps the most revered composer of film scores alive. The Film Forum is showing 20 Spielberg blockbusters this summer, all of which have been restored in 4K. —Jack Sullivan
