She's the Man

“I can do this. I am a dude. I am a hunky dude! I’m a badass hunky dude!” It’s not exactly Shakespearean but it doth perfectly capture the spirit of She’s the Man. The 2006 teen comedy, inspired by the Bard’s Twelfth Night, follows Viola Hastings (Amanda Bynes), a talented soccer player who disguises herself as her twin brother, Sebastian, to attend his boarding school and prove she can compete on the boys’ soccer team after her own team is cut. As Viola navigates dorm life—unexpected friendships, romantic entanglements (with a young Channing Tatum), and the challenge of keeping her identity a secret—the misunderstandings pile up into comedy gold. —Carolina de Armas
