Sharks

Dec 15, 2021 – Mar 31, 2022
200 Central Park West, New York, NY 10024, United States

They’ve been on this earth longer than dinosaurs, have teeth that are just as sharp, and ever since a certain Spielberg movie was released in 1974, they’ve kept many people out of the ocean. Yes, we’re talking sharks! By now, most people know that these amazing creatures have been cruelly over-hunted for steak and soup, and wrongly vilified. Indeed, even though there’s a great white shark nursery off the coast of Long Island, the sharks in New York City are far more dangerous. Curated by John Sparks, from the museum’s department of ichthyology, the exhibition is full of fossils, models, and interactive highlights. This is way beter than Shark Week. —L.J.
