Serge Charchoune is a hard man to pin down. Born in Moscow, he spent most of his life in Paris, immersing himself in Cubism, then Dadaism, then Purism, and then in his own form of abstract art (Charchounism?). Gliding between movements and creative circles, Charchoune was always in motion, collecting inspiration across mediums and genres. For the artist’s first posthumous solo exhibition, nearly 50 years after his death, Rosenberg & Co. brings together 36 paintings from Charchoune’s younger years, arranging them chronologically to showcase his evolution. —Clara Molot
