Safe, Sensible, and Sane

Brought together by a shared love for the banjo and a No. 1 hit with the song “Foggy Morning Breaking,” Steve Martin and Alison Brown have finally joined forces in a new collaborative album. Their partnership mixes Martin’s quirky humor and sincere lyricism with Brown’s love for bluegrass and jazz. The album features other musicians such as Jackson Browne, Jeff Hanna, Indigo Girls, and more. “We didn’t start off by saying, ‘Let’s make an album,’” Brown said in an interview with Music Row. “We were just having a good time writing songs, and at some point we realized we’d written enough to gather them all together and put a bow on it.” The album releases on October 17. —Maggie Turner
