Rachel Harrison Life Hack

Rachel Harrison “takes a bad thing and makes it worse,” said the art historian and critic Hal Foster (the comment was meant to be positive). And it’s true. Harrison’s work is often bulky and preposterous. It’s also powerful. She describes her method as “intuition combined with thinking,” and her mediums range from ignoble objects and papier-mâchés to elaborate photo collages. Now, in her first full-scale survey, we can behold 25 years of the absurd made visionary. —E.C.
