Marc Ribot’s new album Map Of A Blue City is out now. Produced and mixed by Ben Greenberg, the nine-track record is built around the original studio sessions with the great Hal Willner and has been in the works for almost 30 years. Mojo Magazine calls it “a subdued, compelling album [with] the intimate intensity of a midnight conversation.” The opportunity to see it performed live is finally before us. Ribot’s inventive guitar playing has led him to explore many different genres and sounds; he’s also collaborated with several other notable musicians such as Tom Waits and Elvis Costello. In this particular project and its release show, Ribot’s vocals will take more of a leading role than we’re used to. It’s only natural to walk away feeling a bit more cultured. —Henry McGrath
