Marc Newsom

Until June 21
2750 Route De La Cride, 13610 Le Puy-Sainte-Réparade, France

Marc Newson is the designer behind the Lockheed Lounge, a chaise longue sheathed in hand-riveted aluminum. It has become the most expensive work ever sold at auction by a living designer, a record it resets every time it appears, which is rarely. Château La Coste is now presenting 14 Newsom works—the Lockheed Lounge among them—spanning four decades. They are installed inside Oscar Niemeyer’s last building and across the surrounding Provençal landscape. Also on view—Electra! Newson designed this six-meter sculpture for the 1996 Atlanta Olympics but it was never installed. After 30 years in crates, it now makes its public debut. —Elena Clavarino
