Medieval and Renaissance boxes made of leather. Embossed and gilded leather wall coverings from the 16th to 19th centuries (the Russian defector Rudolf Nureyev had such walls in his Paris apartment). Leather used in furniture from the 17th and 18th centuries. Eighty items, many never before displayed, show leather work at its zenith.—L.J.
