St. Vincent Medical Center, in Los Angeles, closed in 2020 after 118 years in operation, to be repurposed as a behavioral health campus. While the building is still in the process of transformation, 70 artists have taken over 80 rooms across four floors—patient rooms, operating theaters, nurses’ stations, and corridors. They have turned the spaces into immersive installations devoted to a human emotion of their choosing. Joy, fear, grief, resilience, love—these hospital walls have heard it all.
