Significant evidence suggests that Lucian Freud admired the work of Irish artist Jack B. Yeats. A Yeats drawing hung beside Freud’s bed for over two decades. And for a close friend and collector, he selected seven Yeats paintings worth purchasing. Yet Freud never cited the Irish artist as an influence. To parse the affinity between Freud and Yeats, this exhibition places their work in dialogue. And it includes those seven Freud-approved Yeats paintings. —C.J.F.
