Anton Bruckner’s first mature symphony (though one with a twisty history of revisions), the Romantic really does mean to evoke medieval castles, knights on horseback, and forest idylls. This is quintessentially “Viennese” repertoire—a specialty of conductor Gustavo Dudamel. —L.J.
