In East Hollywood’s Little Armenia district, in the gallery there-there, Fort Gansevoort has found a temporary L.A. space. First up is the exhibition “Drapetomania,” new works by the multi-media artist and author Christopher Myers. That title actually means something. It’s the word for a crank theory developed by an American doctor in 1851, coined to describe the “irrational” escape attempts of southern slaves. In monumental quilts and other three-dimensional works, Myers addresses freedom, bondage, and their eternal connection. —L.J.
