Disclosure Day

Emily Blunt and Josh O’Connor in Disclosure Day.

June 12 – July 31, 2026

When he was a child, Steven Spielberg was urged to be curious about forms of intelligent life. “My mom was a champion of encouraging me to probe the unknown,” he told USA Today. As a result, a slice of his filmography is devoted to outer space and its possible inhabitants, films such as Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. This summer, Spielberg is bringing aliens back to theaters. His Disclosure Day stars Josh O’Connor as Dr. Daniel Kellner, a whistleblower on the run who’s threatening to leak information that proves aliens exist. Partnered with the meteorologist Margaret Fairchild (Emily Blunt), whose physic powers allow her to communicate with extraterrestrials, the duo works to completely subvert past assumptions on alien life. Reuniting with Jurassic Park screenwriter David Kopp, Spielberg believes the narrative is more realistic than ever. “It’s just become overwhelming to me that we’re not alone in the universe,” he says. —Maggie Turner
