This major summer event from the Grimaldi Forum Monaco is dedicated to the work and imagination of Christian Louboutin, a footwear designer and key figure in the fashion industry who has drawn much of his inspiration from the Principality. In his youth, the ebullient shoe designer learned about the world beyond Paris at a museum in his neighborhood, the Palais de la Porte Dorée. It was there that he became acquainted with the artistry of far-flung cultures. The museum served as the perfect venue for a 2020-21 exhibition that focused on Louboutin’s most important influences and inspirations. With the show’s move to Monaco, its curator, Olivier Gabet, has redesigned it to include Monegasque influences on Louboutin’s work. There are new collaborations as well.
