A program of works by living women composers of color, culminating in excerpts from Nathalie Joachim’s evening-length Fanm d’Ayiti (“Women of Haiti”). Scored for voice, flute, string quartet, and electronics, Joachim’s celebration of her island heritage incorporates recorded voices of her grandmother and the girls choir of her family’s ancestral farming village as well as new arrangements of material associated with iconic Haitian songstresses of the past. —Matthew Gurewitsch
