Andy Warhol's America

You could be forgiven for asking whether there really is anything more to say about Andy Warhol. But what Francis Whately does so well in Andy Warhol’s America, his new documentary series, is show how important and present the Pop artist still is today. Structured thematically—dream, nightmare, and afterlife—with a non-sequential chronology, the series overlays Warhol’s life story with the historical events that defined postwar America. The result? A compelling thesis that much of our culture would not be the same without the insouciant artist. —Bridget Arsenault
