In the 21st century, self-portraiture is the order of the day. In the hours we spend using social media platforms—scrapbooking our likes, dislikes, selfies, and statuses—we unwittingly create online self-portraits in which our personality traits become a set of quantifiable data points. Enter the “algo-portrait,” a selfie comprised of all that data. In this exhibition the Indian-American artist Tara Kelton creates portraits in which AI has the upper hand and algorithms draw the profile. —E.C.
