The photographer Aldo Fallai met Giorgio Armani in the mid–1970s, when Armani was making his debut as a designer. Milan and “Made In Italy” were on the ascent, and the pair found they had a similar vision of a sculptural menswear aesthetic. Fallai’s highly personal compositions, drawn from Tuscan Mannerism, Caravaggio, and the Pre-Raphaelites, aligned with Armani’s silhouettes. Soon Fallai was photographing Armani campaigns, and in 1984 one of his shots graced the huge mural on central Via Broletto. The two men have worked together ever since. This exhibition explores their 30-year collaboration. —Elena Clavarino
