Amy Herzog’s Pulitzer-nominated play 4,000 Miles begins at three in the morning, when 20-something Leo awakens his 91-year-old grandmother at her plush Greenwich Village apartment. Sweat-soaked and unbalanced, Leo is in need of care, and the drama that unfolds is both authentic and heartfelt. Directed by Matthew Warchus, who heads the Old Vic, this new production sees Timothée Chalamet in the leading role, making his London stage debut alongside veteran Eileen Atkins, the British force who has starred in over 75 plays, mastering everyone from Shakespeare to Woolf. —B.A.
