Marta Kostyuk is having the strongest year of her young career. At just 23, the Kyiv-born tennis star reached the semifinals of Roland-Garros. It was her best Grand Slam result to date, and it marked the culmination of a 17-match clay-court winning streak that tallied up titles in Rouen and Madrid, all of which amounted to a career-high ranking of 12. Roland-Garros also handed her a poignant high-visibility showcase: in the quarterfinals, Kostyuk met her compatriot Elina Svitolina in what would be the first all-Ukrainian matchup ever to transpire in the round of eight at a major.
