Charlotte Tilbury famously said a decade ago that makeup could help women “to get that husband you’ve always wanted, change your job, move abroad, get a pay raise”.

Much has changed since then. Beauty standards have been challenged, social media has ushered in a wave of authenticity and consumers have become increasingly sceptical of perfection. So does Tilbury, now one of Britain’s most successful self-made businesswomen, still stand by those remarks?
