Saatchi Art “35 under 35” rising star Thérèse Mulgrew paints sensual, intimate, surreal pictures of friends in baroque settings. They’re nude in front of red velvet curtains; or vaping while looking off into the distance; or gazing dreamily at the viewer, their arm tattoos on display. Mulgrew was raised on a farm in Iowa, studied art in New York, and now lives in Chicago. “Skin Contact” is her first solo show in Los Angeles. —S.K.
