From the moment in 2017 when the Salvator Mundi emerged into the public consciousness, it was begging for a movie treatment. In just 95 minutes, the Danish director Andreas Koefoed delivers, guiding viewers through the intricate story of the most expensive painting ever sold. Is it really Leonardo’s? Where is the painting now? The film leaves you with more questions than answers, but one thing is certain: what the Salvator Mundi is really about is politics, power, and, most of all, money. —J.V.
