Linda Eastman took up photography in the early 1960s, while studying at the University of Arizona; soon she was the first female photographer to get the cover of Rolling Stone. She met Paul McCartney in 1967 at a Georgie Fame concert in London; two years later they were married and expecting their first child, Mary. Over her 30-year career, Eastman took intimate photographs of musical greats such as Jimi Hendrix, Aretha Franklin, and, of course, the Beatles. She also documented family life, making portraits of her children, her husband, and their animals, both in London and in Tucson, on the family ranch where she spent her final years. Paul and daughter Mary, who is also a photographer, curated this exhibition in tribute to a career and a life cut short. —C.M.
