For the last year the papers have been full of lockdown projects. But how many people decided to make a four-story, ten-room, Venetian Palazzo dollhouse? At least one. Joanna Fisher, a New York-based arts patron and collector, decided to focus on what she called “The House Within.” Fisher had the dollhouse structure made by the British set designer Holly Jo Beck. She then commissioned furnishings from celebrated miniaturists and friends—artists such as Dustin Yellin, Ryan McGinness, Hunt Slomen, and Veronica Gaido. The palazzo is now on view at MAD and full of surprises—tiny in scale but huge in impact. —L.J.
