Titled after James Baldwin’s book The Evidence of Things Not Seen, this online exhibition consists of photography by artists of color. All have documented the realities of South Africa’s apartheid—the daily inequities, indignities, and injustice visited upon black South Africans. Termed “resistance photography,” these images may be soundless and wordless, but the truth they tell is loud and clear. —E.C.
