 imon turned to a mystery much closer to home: her own father. He had worke
 d for the U.S. government\, traveling to Russia\, Iran\, Israel\, China\, 
 Afghanistan\, and Korea\, before leaving government service to manufacture
  and sell arcade games. Simon never learned the full story of what he had 
 done\, and after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s\, she realized she ne
 ver would. A work of 42 interconnected photographs\, texts\, videos\, and 
 sculptures\, “Father Country I Do Love You” pieces together the elusiv
 e life of an unnamed federal agent. The Guggenheim is presenting the insta
 llation in its rotunda\, the first time a photography-based artist has had
  a monographic exhibition in that space. The show is also the largest debu
 t of new work in the museum’s history.
