“I don’t want to just make a square that goes over a couch,” the American artist “Swoon,” formerly known as Caledonia Curry, has said. In 1999, looking to create something larger, Swoon gained notoriety as a street artist. Today, she creates print work, animation, and dreamlike installations scaled large. In Seven Contemplations, her latest installation, she has created her first stop-motion video, which complements an open, meditative environment. Mythical figures and cardboard houses command the space, while in the middle of the room a colorful, handcrafted tree beguiles. —E.C.
