DESCRIPTION:Sep 26\, 2026 - Jan 18\, 2027\nFor more than 60 years\, Suzanne
Jackson has resisted settling into a single style. She has painted delica
te leaves and mountain landscapes\, covered canvases in luminous washes of
color\, and\, more recently\, abandoned the canvas altogether. Her newest
works are made entirely of acrylic paint\, which she layers with fabric\,
thread\, and found materials\, then suspends from the ceiling. Jackson fi
rst made her name in Los Angeles in the late 1960s\, when she became an im
portant figure in the city’s African American art scene. Along the way\,
  she’s also been a dancer\, poet\, teacher\, and theater designer. “It
’s political\,” Jackson has said\, “to make an artwork about peace a
nd beauty.” The MFA Boston now brings together more than 60 works for th
e first full retrospective of her career.
