DESCRIPTION:Oct 9\, 2026 - Jan 17\, 2027\n“Love me\, love me\, say you do
/ Let me fly away with you.” So begins the theme song “Wild is the Wi
nd\,” written for the 1957 film of the same name. Composed by Dmitri Tio
mkin\, with lyrics by Ned Washington\, it was sung in the film by Johnny M
athis\, and has since accumulated meanings beyond its origins. Nina Simone
recorded it in 1966\; David Bowie covered it a decade later\, stripping i
t back to its bones. Steve McQueen has been living with both versions for
more than 30 years. Now he has made a room out of them. “66–76–26\,
” conceived specifically for the Guggenheim Bilbao’s architecture\, pr
esents the two recordings in the dark\, putting Simone and Bowie in a lyri
 c conversation across time.
