DESCRIPTION:Oct 20\, 2026 - Jan 17\, 2027\nFor over four decades\, Stan Dou
glas’s installations have probed how history is conveyed and then subseq
uently shaped by memory. Creating what he calls “recombinant narratives\
,” the multidisciplinary artist places archival events in different cont
exts\, reassembling a new reality with CGI or staged presentations. In his
latest feat\, Douglas asserts that history has an ephemeral nature—its
narratives are nonlinear and perpetually changing. “Parallax\,” a larg
e survey exhibition\, combines Douglas’s film installations and photogra
phic series\, including his Birth of a Nation (2025)\, which exposes the o
riginal 1915 film’s racial bigotry by reconstructing its events. “I ca
 n’t predict the future\, so in a way\, my science fiction—like everyth
ing else\, like historical things—is an allegory of the present\,” Dou
glas told Interview Magazine in 2020. Over 40 works come together in this
 monumental monograph.
