DESCRIPTION:Oct 15 - Dec 5\, 2026\nWilliam Morris patterns. Art Nouveau. Hi
ndu art. One thinks of these forms when looking at the paintings of Shulin
g Guo. Her influences actually come from her childhood in Chaoshan\, China
—the temple imagery and folk traditions she grew up with. Guo is now bas
ed in Philadelphia\, and this exhibition at Hollis Taggart\, titled “Tem
ple II\,” sees her experiences as a mother absorbed into structures both
botanical and biological. The body is a temple\, and in Guo’s visions\,
that temple is curvaceous\, involucre\, and radiant with light and color.
The show includes Guo’s first site-specific mural\, which transforms th
e gallery into a sacred space.
