Sheila Hicks: Secret Structures, Looming Presence

Dallas Museum of Art / Dallas / Art

Sheila Hicks taught herself to weave because she was interested in how the Pre-Incas “structured thought with threads, with lines.” Throughout her long career, the fiber artist has continued to study the textile traditions of tribes living in the Andean Mountains. This exhibition places Hicks’s woven works alongside Ancient Andean weavings from the museum’s collection—a shared language of twists and knots. —C.J.F.
