“Picasso painted a violin from four different perspectives at one time,” George Condo told BmoreArt in 2017. “I do the same with psychological states.” Unapologetically borrowing tropes from the big guys—painters like Pollock, Bacon, and, especially, Picasso—Condo’s abstract paintings are temporal mashups, cartoonishly kinetic. His Nude and Forms brought $6.16 million at Christie’s last May, which suggests that Condo is a big guy, too. —L.J.
