According to Saâdane Afif, his work is intended to be “permanently incomplete.” What kind of project allows for such Sisyphusian dedication to the unfinished? One that archives every manner of publication concerning the most influential ‘readymade’ of all time—the porcelain urinal that Marchel Duchamp titled Fountain in 1917. Afif began collecting all things Fountain in 2008, a project that is now itself the subject of think pieces and photographs. Afif is collecting those, too. —C.J.F.
